WE MAKE BETTER PILOTS

WHY FLY WITH PILOT MAKERS?
Pilot Makers Advanced Flight Academy was founded to fill a deadly gap in pilot training through a focus on stick and rudder skills, better situational awareness in all attitudes of flight, and understanding the entire flight envelope. Over the last 30 years pilots training has gotten way from this and the results are devastating. Loss Loss of Control In Flight (LOC-I) is far and away the #1 cause of fatal accidents in both private and commercial aviation. In our training we take the mystery out of unusual attitudes, spins, and upset events beginning in our Private Pilot Syllabus. By safely exposing you to the entire flight envelope using planes designed for that purpose, we will increase your confidence, skill and fun through better stick and rudder skills.
Too much of pilot training today focuses on avoiding stalls, spins, and upsets. But what happens when you find yourself in a spin if you are only taught to avoid it, or fear it? Right. Wether you want to be a professional pilot, or just fly for fun, our training will make you a better pilot.

I truly appreciated Barry’s approach to aerobatic training in the Pitts – he is knowledgeable, experienced, calm and confident. Flying was hands-on from my first takeoff, and as a pilot that learns best from his own mistakes, (as opposed to watching countless demos from the instructor) adapting his teaching method to my style helped me gain confidence and experience quickly. If you’re looking for some fun flying from initial tail wheel to advanced aerobatics, look no further than Pilot Makers flight school!
Our fleet contains legends of tailwheel, aerobatic, and warbird aircraft. All our aircraft are late model examples with lowtimes and are maintained to the highest standards. We offer competitive pricing, and one of the widest variety of training programs anywhere in the US.
Since it’s first flight in 1944, the The Pitts Special series of competition aerobatic biplanes designed by Curtis Pitts has accumulated many competition wins. This legendary biplane does require advanced tailwheel skills, but it’s a plane most anyone with the desire to learn can become competent in. Our S2C is the latest in a long list of superlative designs by Mr. Pitts and is a delight to fly. Come get your advanced tailwheel instruction in our Pitts S2C by d.
The Super Decathlon, or “Super D” is a two-seat conventional gear aerobatic trainer capable of performing all basic aerobatic maneuvers, including sustained inverted flight. This is the plane for basic aerobatics and basic spins including CFI spin endorsements. It is the gateway to the Pitts advanced spin and competition aerobatics. It is also a perfect for our warbird aerobatics course with a slower roll rate and an hourly rate that won’t break the bank.
The Stearman (Boeing) Model 75 is a biplane used as a military trainer aircraft before, during, and after WWII. Today this venerable legend of the skies is still a popular warbird and sport aircraft. Our completely restored Stearman has a 300hp Continental motor making it suitable for higher altitude operations. This is a fantastic experience to fly around the towering Wasatch Mountains in an open air cockpit while learning the ins and outs of radial engined biplane flying.
The North American Aviation T-6 Texan is a single- engined advanced trainer aircraft used to train pilots of the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF), United States Navy, Royal Air Force and other air forces of the British Commonwealth during World War II and into the 1970s..
